NM's current budget: $7.4B, Dept. of Veterans Services: $5M (.06%)

Sept. 9th, 2022 Yesterday, Rep Rebecca Dow (38) and I met with Robin Wilson, the Department of Veteran Services director of field services. Joining our meeting was Miguel Martinez, the veteran service officer (VSO) supervisor for the southwest region and other members of the field services. We had online meetings with mutiple VSO’s who shared the opportunities for improved services and outreach.

In New Mexico. Most rural VSOs have to cover a large geographical area, with as many as 10,000 veterans each, and as many as 5 counties.

To "keep our promise" to veterans, we need to adequately fund their budget. I am proud to support and commit to elevating the issue and pushing for more services for our state heroes!
